sarcoidosis sucks!

my hubs has this odd disease called sarcoidosis (google it if you want the gory details).  it really started to affect our lives last october when we made a trip to the hospital.  i will spare you the details and skip to what it all means for us...  the hubs went from being a non-stop do everything kinda guy to one who really REALLY has to take is slow.  as he says...he got old.  last saturday he overdid it.  it happens almost every weekend and takes him anywhere from 3-5 days to recover.  he had planned to be out of the house on sunday and the girls and i were kinda looking forward to it.  he woke up sunday not feeling well and decided to stay home.  so i took the girls and we left.

first stop was goodwill.  we dropped off a carload and then browsed the halloween costumes and other exciting stuff.  i love goodwill.  i turned around and saw this...

i spawned an extensive hat-trying-on-session...including the tinsel wig by shorty..

we had a great time trying on hats and i was reminded of all the times my mom and i tried on the fancy hats at nordstrom when i was a kid....ah, memory lane.

we then went across the street to lowes where we had a few things to pick up.  we browsed the clearance area and the half-dead plants, but found nothing terribly exciting.  i did almost pick up a pair of parsons chairs that were 75% off, but had nowhere that i needed them so i passed.  we bough saw blades, some masonry hooks and some hardware for our ongoing chicken coop project (more to come on that in a later post).  sorry, no pics at lowes.

we then went down the block to mcdonalds for lunch.  not our favorite, but it did in a pinch.  the girls actually ate fairly quickly for them and were able to play for a few minutes.  that is always the bribe to get them to eat.  no pics at lunch either...tho i usually take pics of them in the play area.

we then walked across the parking lot to ben franklin crafts.  i was looking for some fall decorations or some inspiring craft or something.  i wanted a crow, for some reason too. i got a crow (cheaper than the one i carried around at goodwill for a bit) and we bought the materials to make some pom pom spiders sorta like these ones...

but, then again, totally different too.  we plan to make them tomorrow and there will be pictures involved.

we then walked back across the parking lot to mickeydees for ice cream...
a dipped cone for the bean...

and a plain cone for shorty...

..she even got some in her mouth!

all in all it was a great girls day...and daddy enjoyed having some "quiet time" as it has come to be known.

the playa's

here i am with my 3rd blog in just a few months.  the other 2 have been deleted (if you were following along).  this one is going to be less about what i am eating and more about every day life on our mountain..hence the name.  i have decided i care a lot more about my kids and my family and our home than what i am putting my mouth.  i am changing my focus, so to speak.

this is the most popular spot on our mountain right now.  it's the front deck.
it's cool and shady in the evenings.
the bbq is here.
and we can watch the kids play on their playset from here.

to start with i will introduce the players in our little game of life...

first up:me.  this is a lovely self pic taken on the 4th of july (the glasses give it away)
next up: the hubs. also known as robert, bob, daddy, grandpa
and occasionally "bobby dan"
we've been married 11 years. he's a stay-home-daddy to the next two players.
#3 and #4: my girls
this one was taken on vacation in june in seaside oregon
#3 is willow.  also known as the bean, chicken, and the tall child.
she will be 6 next month and just started kindergarten a couple weeks ago
#4 is violet.  also known as  beebo, monkey, shorty, viley, missy and many others
she is 2 and 1/2 and responsible for keeping us all laughing!
this is the girls and i at the kla ha ya days parade in our home town this past july
desmond (the black one) and molly (the white one) also reside on our mountain.
they are litter mates and will be 10 in november.  they are strictly outdoor dogs.
we also have 2 cats that are here strictly for rodent control purposes.
this is rosko.  lucifer hangs with the hounds more than us (which is fine with everyone).

that about does it for the residents of mount wormley.
at some point in the future i will introduce non-resident members of our family and friends.
i also plan to bore you to death with the mundane goings on on-top-of-mount-wormley.
i know you are all on the edges of your seats...
stay tuned!
